The equity release market continues on the upward trajectory of recent years, with the ERC’s Spring 2018 market report providing a whole host of headline statistics including a 22% increase in new applicants in 2016 being followed by a further 34% increase in 2017, and annual lending surpassing £3bn for the first time last year.
But while consumers are increasingly choosing equity release as a solution to financing later life, the sector’s continued growth can only be sustainable through readily available information sources and effective education, especially with increased interest from mortgage advisers and IFAs wanting to both find out more about the market and to ultimately join the continually expanding industry.
As a result, Pure Retirement continues to focus on industry-wide education, setting a precedent through its popular face-to-face roadshow series and educational webinars, with the latter’s Back To School series – which featured expert speakers – proving especially popular and receiving both excellent feedback and a high level of demand for further series.
This year has already seen three summer roadshows which benefited, like the webinar series, from the input from industry-leading guest speakers. Topics covered included digital marketing tips, a valuations overview, a guide to power of attorney, and a guide to new tools and resources for advisers (such as AIR Sourcing Version 3). In addition, the spring webinar series has again proved a great success and has featured guest speakers from the Equity Release Council and Later Life Academy.
Reflecting on the spring webinar series, Later Life Academy’s Head of Distribution Ray McCarthy says:
"We are delighted to be working with Pure Retirement on the Spring Webinar Series. We are embarking on an exciting phase in the later life market, and advisers need to be kept abreast of the latest developments. Consequently, it’s great to be working with Pure Retirement, who are as committed as we are to supporting advisers with education on the latest products and available resources to help them expand their business in the fast-growing market."
Never ones to rest on their laurels, Pure Retirement are set to launch a summer webinar series shortly, to go live in August. The new series comes alongside more face to face roadshows in October – contact the marketing team at Pure to register your interest.
"Education is something more and more in demand from an advisers’ perspective," says Pure’s CEO Paul Carter regarding industry development and education. "At Pure we have, and always will be, committed to supporting advisers from their initial transition into the equity release market right through to the ongoing day-to-day support which is just as important and yet so often forgotten."
