Pure Giving

At Pure, we have dedicated team members who actively involve themselves in charity work and enjoy volunteering for various charities. Our mission is to both support local charities and retain an active involvement in larger charity fundraising days as part of a wider aim to give something back to the community.

We conducted a short survey and asked all at Pure for feedback on the charities to support during 2021, the clear winners from the votes cast are:

We also received 14 individual charity nominations from staff, requesting our support, and so in addition we’ll be giving “a shout out” on our socials each month as our ‘Staff Choice Charity’, starting November 2020 and running through to the end of 2021.

Day to Make a Difference

Day to Make a Difference

We encourage and support employee volunteering and fundraising through our corporate volunteering initiative of ‘Days to Make a Difference’. This allows staff to spend one day of paid time per year participating in fundraising and volunteering activity during working hours. Staff have volunteered their time at Saint Michael’s Hospice in Harrogate and The Prince of Wales Hospice in Pontefract. Our employees say:
"I think it’s important to volunteer within the community as it demonstrates our culture and values."
"It is great to work with colleagues to achieve useful and helpful goals, such as painting benches and maintaining the gardens."

Dementia Friends

Dementia Friends

Dementia Friends is part of Alzheimer’s society initiative, with the aim of educating people on the condition, and the challenges people face. We are supporting Dementia Friends in 2021 with our very own trained Dementia Friends Champion who will be rolling out training to all Pure staff during 2021. Once we have trained our workforce to understand Dementia, we will look to support our customers and provide training to those that are interested in understanding how they can help their own clients.

Walking Football Association

The WFA and Prostate Cancer UK

In March 2019, we launched our sponsorship of the WFA with a charity football match which raised £200 for the WFA’s charity partner, Prostate Cancer UK. A team made up of Pure Retirement staff competed against an all-star team of players from the national over-50s and 60s teams to an audience including the inventor of walking football John Croot and members from the Cross Gates & District Good Neighbours Scheme, a community group offering varied activities for older people to help alleviate loneliness and promote active lifestyles.
